What is the differencr between the bore of a gun and the calibre of a gun?

They are pretty much the same, but "bore" is used for shotguns like a "12 bore" (in the US it would be 12 guage) whereas the calibre is for "riflled" barrels which are, in side-arms, much smaller diameter.
