Can I go after H & R Block for tax errors that they caused?

I went to H & R Block to have my taxes done in January of this year. I've never owed money or been penalized for anything, but now I'm getting letters from the state I live in telling me I owe them a lot of money with interest and penalties. H & R Block told me that I only owed Federal that I already paid in February. They are claiming that they are not responsible. had an amendment filed by a MANAGER because of errors done by the original preparer. I've been giving until 7/1/2011 to have this money that I didn't know I owed to be paid in full or it will continue to add interest and penalties. I did not buy a peace of mind because I was lead to believe that I didn't need it because my taxes were done correctly. They are refunding me my tax prep fee and the interest, but I have to pay hundreds out of my pocket that I don't have. If I had time I could have saved up the money and paid them before the April deadline. They lied to me and made mistakes on my taxes and they aren't owning up to there mistakes.

Pistol dilemma, 9mm vs 40S&W vs 45ACP?

I'm about to graduate college and go into law enforcement and I am about to buy my first pistol. I have shot and held several pistols and have one in mind I am leaning toward purchasing but I'm not so sure about the caliber. I know law enforcement mainly uses .40 and .45 but I would probably use this gun as either a concealed carry or home defense pistol as I would probably be issued a pistol by my employer or instructed on what to get. Either way, should I go with the 9mm since it will be my first pistol to get comfortable with it or should I get a .40 to be comfortable with the pistol I will use in my line of work? If i should get the larger caliber, is the .40 or the .45 better in terms of handling/recoil, I'm not necessarily concerned with stopping power and badassness.

I saw that with the software Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com/), you can easily convert comics formats (cbr/cbz) into ebook formats such as LRF or EPUB. So I'm interested to buy an e-reader for comics reading but I tried with a 6 inches model (the SONY PRS-600) and screen is way too small. Kindle is too large, so I search one with 8 or 9 inches screen, preferably with the e-ink pearl technology for the screen.

I personally would go with the .22 judging by your information. Semi auto I think is the funnest.(If thats a word) And since you have "unlimited" ammo you wont need to buy ammo. .22 guns are normally the cheapest type of gun and theyre very fun. And dont worry about the reviews of reliability unless its a complicated gun like an ar-15 varient or so. With a pheonix youll be fine.

Have shot before but now looking to get a rifle of my own?

I'm looking for suggestions on a rifle which would best suit my needs. I've never really shopped around for guns before because until now I didn't really care, I'll shoot what ever my grandfather hands me. I've shot rifles on about a dozen different occasions over the last 5 or so years. I've shot a couple different 22 cal, a 308, and an 8mm before. I've shot only a few hundred rounds in my life. Nothing that I've tried seemed to be too over powering. I'm looking for a smaller caliber riffle some where between the 22 and 308. The 22 seams like the logical choice because of the price of ammo and because most would say it is the best gun to learn on. I'm also considering something a little bigger because I might want to hunt medium sized game next year. For now the gun would be used strictly for perfecting my aim. In the fall if I feel comfortable with my shooting ability I might hunt small game like squires or rabbits. I would like to be all set up with everything I would need for under $500. What rifles should I consider?

If you are on a small budget now, ammo cost is some thing you what to look in to. For that nothing is cheaper then .22LR. In that price range the 10/22 is King. I love mine. One big plus about the 10/22 is the countless after market parts for it. I just have a plain jane model, and don't see adding much more. But to each their own. I would suggest staying with the 10/22. Like I said it can't be beat in that price range.

The factory scope mount on the side of your saiga is the best option for mounting optics in my opinion, and there are many options available to slide right on that thing. The military surplus scopes for sniper rifles all the way to rocket launcher fit the same way and they come off and on with almost none if any loss of "zero". POSP scopes can be had for around 100 to 200 dollars and there are a few different magnifications. As far as cheap ammo goes, a saiga in 5.45 is around 400 shipped, shoots ammo that can be had for around 15 cents a round, where 5.56 or .223 is 35 to 40. Yes the cheap 545 is corrosive but cleaning the rifle should be part of owning the thing and taking care of your tools like a man! 17hmr is 15bucks for 50 average price and that is comparable to 22 mag in price and performance. All my humble opinion, I hope it helps.

i'm renting out the first floor of a building as a restaurant in NYC, the building's C of O is not for a restaurant when it was converted 5 yrs ago by previous tenant. I'm aware of the fact that there is no CO and signed a lease that I would have to obtain the C of O no matter the cost. It's been more than a year and a lot of concerns from the NYC building dept has extended the expected time of completion, but it's almost there and I do expect to complete. Money was spent for renovations and architect fees to ensure the approval from the DOB, inspections have been passed but there are more to go. I was too naive to think that it was alright to rent a place with no C of O. If proper authorities find out that the restaurant does not have a CO, that it is being worked on, but the DOB evicts me anyway, will I be able to sue my landlord for expenses paid for renovations and professional fees invested into the building? How are my chances at actually winning the case?

I'd say it's wrong. In fact, cathode rays (electrons) have to be carefully focused using both electrostatic and magnetic fields. The anode attracts the electrons statically. The electrons wouldn't necessarily even make it to the anode without the anode's large potential difference with the cathode. Electrons go where the field tells them to go, and the fierld is electrostatically set up by the anode!

6 years ago i had pleaded to a CWOF and got 1 year of probation wich i completed and paid all my court fees. Now i just aplied for a job and got the position at a clinic at a patient service department, but i am soooooo nervous about failing my CORI check!!! First off those times are pretty fast and making it to the national freshman mile is nothing to be upset about everyone has days were they won't be the best. Your coach is right to worry about injury but the bigger problem is burning out. I would say that adding 5 to 10 miles a year would be alright but do not forget about the long run. I'm guessing you are interested in college running so that is another 7 years of pounding on your legs. Putting in the miles on your slow recovery days is the most important thing to do in distance running and just listen to what your legs are telling you.

AR-15 conversion questions?

I keep hearing that the ARs can be multi caliber. From what I understand you just pop the 2pins out take the upper off then put the new one on. The thing I dont get is how you can go from a 223 to a 308 since the bullets are different sizes and would need a different magazine and a different lower recever. Am I missing something? Should I just get 1 or the other or is there a way to get 1 lower and multiple uppers?

i messed up all my exams this year because i was distracted by my bf and i hardly studied. i got a score of 90 marks in iit jee and honestly i did not study for even 1 hour everyday (just before the exams i studied for 5-6 hours for a week or two). i dont think i have studied even half of the syllabus. i am thinking of repeating. is it good idea.? i have a dream to become aerospace engineer and join isro. if i dont repeat i wont be able to fullfill that dreaam and i will feel like i did not even try and regret it for the rest of my life ( i am regereting not studying so much now). but nobody can say for sure i will selected and get my desired branch. so is repeating worth it? if i repeat i know i will work hard and wont get distracted by stupid things. i will also be giving isat if i repeat.

Hey, I've got a question for the world. If there are people starving to death, people dying of all sorts of diseases, people in the midst of warfare not even knowing why they are fighting with machine guns and bombs going off in all directions, there are oil spills, there are endangered species, and there are people trying to get the Amazon cut down; then why the **** are people so wound up about pedantic things, like nationalism, and what someone might have that is a bit cooler than what they have, when there is nothing wrong with the caliber of their lives, in western countries?! Is getting really wound up about the other stuff not a lot more important? I am as wound up as I can get about the differentiation of socieconomy world wide, and about enviromental issues, and a bit more, you see, but people keep doing my head in and keep getting seriously wound up about things that I find impossible to get wound up over. Why has a healed bruise come back?

Got some blood work done 3 weeks ago and the arm that they drew it developed a bruise on the midway section of my forearm. It healed in about 6 days and my CBC showed all blood counts in the normal range. Yesterday the bruise came back ( ive been using a heavy power tool with that arm for the past 2 days that use .22 calibre shots for concrete) but havent had any other trauma happened to this arm. Not bruising anywhere else on body but the skin on my hands has been breaking fairly easily the past couple days too but im thinking this might be due to dry skin, confused about the recurrent bruise though

Can you give us more details about exactly what you see when you connect the Kindle via USB? When I connect mine to my PC (running Windows 7), it mounts the drive and calls it Kindle. When I double click on that, it shows me several folders including one called documents. Question about converting an AR into a different caliber?

Different guns have different purposes and this is why many of us, ultimately own several. It would be wisest and least expensive to be content with owning an AR-15, for example which shoots 556 and 223, and owning an inexpensive rifle which shoots a 22. I saw a very nice 22 at a very good price in a pawnshop this week. It doesn't take very long to clean two guns.

I like rock chuck and ground hog hunting myself mostly with a Ruger M77 in 243. I assume you are talking about a different kind of hog. I would recommend a good bolt action in 308 to answer your question. .30-06 is only mildly more effective with heavier bullets and there is less cheap ammunition available outside of CMP and a few sources. 308 does everything just as well with 180 grain and below and tends to be more plentiful. You already have some semi-autos and shotguns. So the next logical step is a nice 30 caliber rifle that is more accurate than your Nagant. Savage 10FP or Remington 700 PSS or SPS with good glass would be fun and practical. Either will easily shoot as well as you can and still remain affordable. I sold my two Savage 10 FP's (20 and a 26") to afford an AR-10 and while I won't sell the AR-10, I regret getting rid of both of the bolt guns. Once I purchase another, it won't be going anywhere. While the 26 inch had greater velocity, the 20 inch barrel was much handier and lighter. I would recommend a 700 or model 10 in 308 with a 20" barrel and a good scope. Shooting at distance is a ball. A pistol might be a good time too, I don't see one listed in your collection.

A wildcat rifle made with 50 caliber shell caseing necked down to 8mm?

The Army went to a gunmaker, many years ago (about 50) to see how much velocity they could get out of a rifle. Purely as an experiment. He got an 87 grain .22 caliber bullet to gravel at a little over 6000 fps. The bullet disintegrated on the target. That was the end of that story. Many tests have been done trying to push bullets as fast as they can go and still get accuracy. There comes a point with every caliber where the increase in velocity of a given projectile requires a disproportionate amount of powder. The optimization of powder for bullet weight for caliber is generally termed "bore capacity". The current available cartridges in 8mm are already "over bore capacity" and the amount of powder you could pack into a necked down .50 cal. machine gun cartridge would certainly be way over bore capacity for that caliber. Then there is the factor of recoil. I actually owned and shot (only 9 times, all I could handle) a .378 Weatherby Magnum. This was the .460 Weatherby Magnum case necked down to .375 caliber. I couldn't handle the recoil (I'm 6'2", 200 lbs). My favorite two guns are the .300 Weatherby Magnum and the .375 H & H Mag. I mention this to show that I don't mind heavy recoil...but there was a limit. So, if you want to try this as an experiment and just for the hell of it, go for it. I suspect the recoil would be horrific, the amount of powder would be enormous, the flame of unburned powder (and burning powder) coming out the muzzle would be awesome, noise also big. And I don't know what in the world you could do with it (other than write a magazine article). But go ahead and have fun if it is something that pleases you.

Do not attempt to fire .45 Colt in a .410 shotgun that does not specifically tell you on the gun itself.

Almost 4 months ago i was in the process of purchasing a house. I signed the contract but down a thousand dollars for earnest money and had the inspection done. The sellers had a lot of hidden problems with the house starting with the couch covering the wall that had mold. The furnace did not work, the duct work on the home did not even go through the whole house not to mention there was probably about 4 vents through out the whole house! The inspector advised me that there is at least 30k worth of work on the property.Considering my loan has to be fha approved and the property was not i sign the cancellation form but the sellers are refusing to sign it. My attorney has been trying to reach them and after 3 months they finally came to the conclusion the would release 500 dollars to me and keep the rest!!! They aren't entitled to any of it and i would like it all back can anyone help me get my money back!!! I was going to take them to court but according to my realtor and attorney its not worth it considering i would be losing alot of money With attorney fees and court fees. You want the 30-06 if you're hunting bear for sure and I prefer it when hunting deer out to 250-300yds; that would also have you covered for hunt although a .22 can take them out. If you have a wide open area you're hunting go with the 270, it does shoot much flatter.

2008 Dodge Caliber making clunking noise?

This only started happening about 30 mins ago, but every time I start my car there is a clunking sound that repeats like 2 times while starting up. I turned off the car multiple times and started it up again to check to see if it would go away and it has not. It drives just as usual and brakes as usual and it does not make that clunking sound other than when just starting up. I just got an oil change so I don't think that could be an issue.

Do new guns require a significant amount of breaking in time?

i have 2 marlin model 60 semi-auto 22 caliber rifles. one is brand new and the other 17 years old with alot of rounds fired through it. while out shooting the other day 2 different brand names of ammo was used. while the new rifle had some jams and failures to feed with one brand of ammo, the older rifle functioned flawlessly with both brands of ammo. it appeared as though the problem with the jamming in the new rifle was a couple of stovepipe jams, but most of the time the bolt failed to come back far enough to push another round into the chamber. i tend to think the reason is a combination of 2 things in the new rifle. one brand of ammo wasnt quite as powerful as the other, and maybe because the the new rifle being new and with a stiffer recoil spring, it was faling to come back far enough to engage a new round. also the new rifle has a much stiffer trigger pull. are these monir problems likely to correct themselves as i fire more rounds through the rifle?

I Wrote A Check But My Money Is Still There?

Well I have 2 bank accounts, 1 with Navy Federal Credit Union and 1 with Bank of America. Direct deposit with my job is set up with my Navy Fed account but I use my Bank of America account for almost everything. So the other day I needed to send money to my BoA account but didn't have time to set everything up for the online transfers so I just wrote a check to myself from Navy Fed to BoA. Well the next day the check was done processing and the money was in my BoA account. But I checked my Navy Fed account today (4 days later) and the money is still there... Can I withhold condo association fees for work not completed. I live in a newly developed condo development. There are various types of units. I live in a free-standing unit which I purchased. The development company is the property management since the development has not sold out. When I moved in 3 yrs ago my sidewalks were all cracked up. I was told that they would be repaired the upcoming Spring. To date the repairs have not happened. In addition, I constantly have standing water and heavy moss growing in front of my house along the sidewalk. Even in 90 degree weather, there is water or moistness and moss growing in front of my house. It is also a hazard. My Mom is elderly and almost fell a few time due to the slippery moss. The association has one excuse after another as to why they haven't repaired it. The latest excuse is they want to wait until they have multiple sidewalks to repair. I have recently begun selling on ebay but the charges Paypal are making are confusing me. The item I sold went for �5.50, with postage costs of �3.00. Therefore I should makes �8.50 minus ebay insertion fees etc. Now I go print a packaging label, which takes me to Paypal. The item weighed only 0.1kg and Paypal charges me �4.41 to print a packaging label! I didn't know you had to pay to print the label, nothing like that on Amazon. I was driving in three lane traffic on the highway,I was the third car.The first car had stopped in the lane of taffic to use his cell phone,causing car two to hit him and the guard rail and me to hit car two. I received pre-approval from Bank of America for an FHA and VA Vendee loan. This was in early April and they pulled my credit before granting the pre-approval. I finally found a house and made an offer that was accepted. The proposed closing date was scheduled for July 29, but because of the length of time between then and when I received the initial pre-approval, I was advised to allow them to pull another credit report (this was last week). I did this and my score is now 656 (up from 628), my debt-to-income ratio has slightly lowered (due to paying off one credit card and paying down another) and everything else is the same. I had a bankruptcy which was discharged four years ago, and since that time I struggled for a few months (late 2008/early 2009) and had an erroneous state tax lien on my report. They asked from an explanation for these events and stated that I could provide a letter explaining the situations. These same items were on both credit reports pulled by BoA, but now I am being told that they are denying approval because of these items. Why would the grant a pre-approval for 170k, but deny my approval for 97k? I am a college educator and I have been on the job for almost three years. I was told that they would need certain items to process the loan, however they requested none of these items before denying me. I received pre-approval from Wells Fargo (also done in early April) which is still valid. I spoke with that loan officer today and he doesn't see the problem. I would prefer the Vendee program because of the lower fees/closing costs in addition to the zero money down payment, however I may have to go to the FHA from Wells Fargo. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or why this could have happened? Has this happened to others? Any information that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My dad doesn't believe in me.?

I'm 25 and graduated from college last year. I studied what he pushed me to study (he tried it in his 40s but gave up cuz it was too hard to work/manage a family and study at the same time). He was angry abt it because he didn't have my gradauting pics framed for the world to see...not becaue I had failed the subject. It's been almost a yr since I graduated and i'm still jobless. I'm trying my best but no job wants me. I really shd have taken up teaching becasue that is what I originally wanted and the way he responded to my choice was as if to say anyone can be a teacher..there's no glory in it. He thinks that it's a brainless job and that you don't need skill and it's not prestegious...like the occupation i studied in college. Honestly, i have worked as a part time teacher in an elementary sch for 3 years and hav enever been happier. I worked there to pay rent (dad paid college fees) but it's been nearly a year and his "prestegious" job choice is not looking very prestegious at all. Heck, I'm actually losing interst in it. My fiance and I moved into a 2 family house 9 months ago. We live upstairs and a young man lives downstairs. We never had any problems up until 2 months ago. The guy downstairs had his "ex-girlfriend" move in that had just gotten out of jail so she had no where else to go. Before she moved in he also had another guy living their undercover that was not on the lease (but he kept a low profile and was no probelm). Also, we have a dog that we had to sign a contract for and pay a pet fee for every month. He has a huge dog and a cat living their without permission and now this girl. I dont care as long as they arent causing problems. But ever since he had this girl move in who isnt on the lease she has been telling my finace and I what she does and doesnt want us to do with our apartment. Telling us to keep our dog on a leash (he's a 10 lb. chihuahua) and not put our cigarte butts in front of OUR door. She mouths off comments to us every time we are outside. She has her dog out all day and we can't even use our yard. They smoke pot in their garage every night and have all their friends over every night drinking and standing around in the driveway till all hours of the night. We have never said anything to our land lord. We just moved to the area from hours away and dont know anyone here. But, this past weekend I had my sister and brother in law up to visit and I could tell the neigbors downstairs were pissed that I had visitors. They brought their two golden retreivers along and my bro in law was out on the lawn with his dog on a leash taking her to go poddy and someone downstairs told him to get off of the property before the dog downstairs bites his dog..I confronted the guy downstairs about EVERYTHING that has been going on since this girl moved in (bc it is her dog and cat) and he said that he would talk to her. Well, nothing happend and it continued. My finace callled the landlord and the landlord said that she is not on the lease there and that she is not allowed there and he doesnt want her living there. However, she wont leave and sits down on her porch and talks s*** all day long with her friends. We cant use the lawn and everytime we go outside she stares us down. I wanted to use my BB gun with pointed feild pellets, ONLY because we have a fisher cat (Fisher) that comes around at night while me and my dogs are outside and I want to be able to scare him away IF I have to. BUT I bought the pointed bbs and they kept jamming?! I made sure the pointed end would be leaving the muzzle the right way, so they went in the clip the right way. They get stuck right after leaving the clip and jam right before entering the chamber of the gun. It's almost like the bell end of the pointed pellet is too big to fit through the chamber? even though it's the right caliber .117 and mm 4.5. IS this type of BB gun supposed to shoot these pointed pellets? the pointed pellets were Crosman lead pointed field pellets.

Hanley is easily the best SS in the league, which is also a premium position, not too many stud players here. I would never trade a sure thing like you have in Hanley for nothing less than a sure thing back. Sure Castro is good, but the Cubs are god awful and he's had 1/2 a good season under his belt. If you do want to move him though, make sure you get a top 5 guy in whatever position you're looking for. Nothing less than top dollar for Hanley. Also, although Weaver is a top 5 pitcher in the league, he's very very good, Lincecum is a top 2 guy and better. It's pretty much a side ways trade. Yes Timmy is having a rough patch right now, but don't sell low on him. He's an absolute stud and he's young. I'd hold still and not make any moves unless you 100% win the deal.

Eclipse using lots of memory, freezing and slow?

I downloaded Version: Helios Service Release 2 -Build id: 20110218-0911, no plugins JEE version of Eclipse and starts up using 512 MB in heap out of 768, I click on trashcan to GC and it goes down to 64MB - then I try to copy and paste one work in java editor and memory jumps up to 500mb and freezes for 5min - every time. If entrance exams are to be written, prpare for these well so that you can get a good rank. All other work you may do will defocu you and will not allow you to be an aerospace engineer. Even in our 1st year physics course in IIT Kharagpur our teacher recommended it to us. As for problem solving, you should follow 200 puzzling physics problems by Peter Gnadig , Aptitude Test in Physics by S.S. Krotov and also solve the past years Physics Olympiad papers. All coaching institutes and teachers will ask you to solve H.C. Verma (filled with the most standard (read boring) problems, that too suspiciously same as in the book Physics for Scientists and Engineers by Paul A. Tipler) as well as Arihant (which is undoubtedly a good problem book, but has BLATANTLY copied from the two books I mentioned). You should also check out Introduction to Classical Mechanics with Problems and Solutions by David Morin (Lecturer on Physics; Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies, Harvard University).
